Welbeck ready for Sweden clash

England forward Danny Welbeck has stated that he is ready to face Sweden on Friday, and that the Three Lions will look to build on their 1-1 draw with France.

Roy Hodgson’s men put on a competent showing to get a point against Les Bleus, and will look to eliminate Sweden with a win in the second round of fixtures.

Manchester United forward Welbeck is eager to play the next game, and wants to take advantage of goalscoring opportunities.

“I think the France game, as a start for us, we set out our platform,” he told reporters, published in The Daily Mail.

“We really want to build on that from now on. I think we can improve a lot more. Looking at it from a neutral point of view it will be a fine game to watch. Once the game is opened up, there will be a few goalscoring opportunities carved out.”

Welbeck has had to lead the line in Wayne Rooney’s absence, but has admitted that his Manchester United team-mate is itching to get back into action.

“We all know the passion Wayne has for football.

“He’s itching to get out on the pitch. It will be better for us once his suspension is done and he can come in and play for us against Ukraine,” he concluded.
