As Wales gear up to face off against Belgium, Joe Allen has hailed Gareth Bale as a better explosive talent than Chelsea star Eden Hazard. The Real Madrid ace – the current most expensive player on the planet following his £86m move from Spurs to Spain last year – is set to play a key role against the Red Devils, who will, in turn, be looking to their London-based ace to inspire them to victory.
Hazard is widely hailed as one of the very best playmakers in the Premier League, but Allen – who plies his trade with Liverpool – believes that Bale is a better attacking player in terms of power and pace:
“Obviously they both have similar qualities, in the sense they can take people on beat a man and both get goals. I think Gareth has that power and strength where as Hazard has that sort of agility, that low centre of gravity. So they’re the slight differences but both are top players.”
Allen also hailed his compatriot for his rise to the very top of the world game over the course of the past few years.
“It’s been a frightening rise. I think having known him from a young age, everyone always tipped him to become a top player, but he’s taken it to a new level in the last couple of seasons. Obviously, the most expensive footballer in football being a Welsh man and now to get a nomination (Ballon d’Or) like that is a credit to himself really and how far he’s risen”.
