Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has poured cold water over any move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-1 Boxing Day win over Harry Redknapp’s Queens Park Rangers, Wenger said:
“I don’t give importance to rumours. There was a rumour in France a few days ago that I offered €62million to Paris for Edinson Cavani. Every day it’s a different rumour. It’s better you don’t give importance to that”
Cavani has been linked with Arsenal for several months now, with rumours suggesting the former Napoli striker wants out of Paris Saint-Germain after growing increasingly fed up playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The former AS Monaco manager was also questioned about Lukas Podolski, with reports intensifying of a move to Inter Milan in January, and why the World Cup winner was an unused sub in the win against QPR:
“He knows when we have to defend a result it was not his turn to come on. We needed to defend.”
