Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger remains hopeful that French defender William Gallas will agree a new contract to remain with the club beyond the end of the current campaign.
The 32-year-old’s current deal runs out in a matter of months and Italian club Roma are rumoured to be keen to tempt Gallas to move on after four seasons with the Gunners.
Wenger commented:“I am not concerned, he is under contract until the 30th of June. We have not found an agreement yet.
“I meet his agents again next Thursday and we will try to find a solution. I feel I have to respect both parties and not to come out about the details of negotiations.
“I do not know if he has spoken to Roma, but he is out of contract and can talk to whom he wants.
“William is speaking to us and our desire is to keep him here. I think he wants to stay here.”
