Arsenal are considering an approach for long-term Manchester United target Andre Ayew from Marseille.
The Ghana international midfielder has a release clause of £11.5m in his contract with Marseille and while Manchester United have been keen admirers, Arsenal could now increase their interest after the sale of star Cesc Fabregas.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is now under pressure from supporters to stamp his authority on the transfer market with Fabregas completing his move to Barcelona, Emmanuel Eboue set for Galatasaray and Samir Nasri wanting to push through a transfer to Manchester City.
Asked about a potential move to Arsenal, Ayew responded: “Why not? You know in football there is no certainty.”
Marseille’s president Jose Anigo has also confirmed that clubs are monitoring Ayew’s situation.
