Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is happy with his side’s start to the season, according to the club’s official website.

The Gunners appeared to be at their old irresistible best on Saturday with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Southampton at the Emirates.

Wenger admits he is excited by the start that his side have made to the Premier League campaign, but believes it is too early to start making judgements on their title credentials.

“We will know after 10 games. I think we have a chance to develop well and keep our attitude. At the moment I don’t know how strong our opponents are,” he said.

The Arsenal boss also believes that the key to their early success in the Premier League so far this season is down to the team’s togetherness: “You ask anybody that gas watched the game and we looked like a real time that wants to play together.”

The victory over the Saints on Saturday moved Arsenal up to third in the Premier League table, only two points off leaders Chelsea. The Gunners' start to the campaign is a dramatic contrast to the beginning of the last one, where after four games the Gunners were lying in 11th place, eight points behind both Manchester teams.

Wenger reckons it is important for his side to maintain their good form in September as they face two tough encounters this month against Manchester City and Chelsea: “This year we started better. Maybe last year in September we were already out of the title race. That was a bit more difficult mentally. The vibes coming out is that we look like a good team and we enjoy playing together. This is a good base and is interesting."
