West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo has added Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey to his squad after agreeing to bring the 29-year-old to The Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee.
Shorey has penned a two-year contract, plus a further year's option in the club's favour, after spending the last two seasons at Villa Park.
However, he made only 39 appearances for Villa and was loaned out to both Nottingham Forest and Fulham last season.
Di Matteo, who has already signed Pablo Ibanez, Steven Reid, Boaz Myhill and Gabriel Tamas this summer, said of his latest acquisition:"I'm delighted to welcome Nicky to the club. He's an experienced, solid, reliable left-back who likes to get forward and get involved.
"I also like the fact he's English and knows what the Premier League is all about. He's a player I've liked for some time. I've very much signed Nicky to compete for the left-back position and I have some good options down that flank as Marek (Cech) can also play further forward.
"Nicky's arrival will not only increase competition but also means we will have options should we suffer injuries or suspensions."
Shorey made almost 300 appearances for Reading before joining Villa in the summer of 2008.
