West Bromwich Albion are interested in Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark, but will not be making a bid just yet.
That’s according to the Birmingham Mail, who believe the Baggies will only move for Clark if they desperately need a new defender. This is despite the fact that Tony Pulis is a big fan of the Irishman.
The 26-year-old has a £million release clause in his contract at Villa Park, but Pulis is happy with his current defence, and will only look to sign Clark as a last resort, or if his current squad changes.
The latter could be the case if James Chester leaves the club, with a number of Premier League teams reportedly ready to sign the Welshman, who shone at EURO 2016.
Clark made just 18 appearances last season for Villa, as their nightmare season saw them relegated to the Championship. He signed a new deal last summer, but could be heading back to the Premier League should Pulis need to add to his squad.
