West Ham United attacker Manuel Lanzini has revealed that he 'cannot wait' to play alongside Barcelona's Lionel Messi when Argentina take on Brazil on Friday.

Lanzini's impressive form for West Ham last season saw the 24-year-old earn a call into the Argentina squad for the showpiece friendly against Brazil in Melbourne.

The attacker has said that he is "more than happy" to have been called into the Argentina set-up for the first time, and he will have "a double satisfaction" lining up alongside Messi.

Argentina, who are now under the leadership of former Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli, are currently fifth in their qualification section for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Lanzini told West Ham's official website:

“I am more than happy. I was hoping for this, I think I was playing well and I am lucky to achieve it. It is a double satisfaction [to be called-up and working alongside Messi].

“He is the best player in the world and we are lucky as he is Argentinian. We need to take advantage of this.”

Lanzini scored eight times and registered two assists in 35 Premier League appearances for West Ham during the 2016-17 campaign.

It has recently been reported that English champions Chelsea are interested in signing the attacker this summer, but Lanzini's current focus is on making his international bow in Australia.
