West Ham United are ready to announce the signature of Swedish left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, who will move to the London Stadium for a £5 million fee according to The Mirror.
The Hammers have been dealt a cruel blow in pre-season, with Aaron Cresswell suffering a cruciate ligament injury and will be on the sidelines for a number of months as a result.
Given that there is no natural replacement for the former Ipswich defender in Slaven Bilic’s current contingent, West Ham are ready to make moves in the transfer market.
The Clarets have been linked with a host of left-backs since Cresswell’s injury but it appears that they will make a move for the affordable Augustinsson.
The 22-year-old is on the books of Danish club FC Copenhagen and has played in European football over recent seasons.
Augustinsson also has a handful of caps for Sweden and could well be an interesting purchase, especially as West Ham boss Bilic was rumoured to be ready to make a move for him even before Cresswell’s injury.
