West Ham complete Maiga deal

West Ham have announced that they have completed a deal to sign highly-rated Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga.

The newly-promoted side are looking to strengthen ahead of their return to Premier League action, and have identified a new forward as a requirement.

Maiga has been linked with a move to Newcastle on a number of occasions previously, with a move only breaking down due to the attacker failing a medical.

However, the Mali international has signed a four-year contract with the Hammers for an undisclosed fee and is ecstatic about moving to Upton Park.

“I am really happy and excited about joining West Ham United,” Maiga told the club’s official website.

“I know West Ham are a big club in England and I’m really looking forward to representing them.

“They have huge tradition and it is like joining part of a family, and that is one of the main reasons that I wanted to come here.

“I know some of the big names that have played for the club in the past and I am proud to be part of a new team back in the Premier League,” he concluded.
