West Ham United are keen on reinforcing their squad with a January deal for Arsenal star Mikel Arteta, Metro reports.
The 33-year-old will see his contract with the club expire at the end of the current campaign and according to Fichajes, he is not likely to get an extension.
However, with the Hammers looking to complete an immediate deal this month, manager Arsene Wenger may consider his sale in order to avoid losing him for free in the summer.
Arteta has struggled with injury over the past few seasons and is often overlooked when fit as he has been finding it hard to hold down a regular role at the Emirates.
He has featured in only one Champions League match while appearing as a Premier League substitute another seven times so far this season.
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is hoping to add more experience into his squad as he urges his squad to finish the campaign with a spot in Europe.
