West Ham United are interested in luring Manchester United star Chris Smalling to the club this summer, Brentwood Gazette reports.
The 26-year-old is currently the first-choice centre-back for manager Louis van Gaal as he has been on top form so far this season.
However, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is keen on adding the England international into their ranks as they prepare to move into their new stadium.
Despite dropping points against Crystal Palace at the weekend, West Ham are still targeting a top four finish after a number of impressive home performances.
United recently overtook Bilic’s side to a fifth spot after they beat Everton 1-0, with West Ham now three points behind Manchester City in fourth place.
They face a tough task next Saturday as they will take on third place side Arsenal, who recently came away 4-0 victors over Watford this past weekend.
Smalling has already featured 45 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to score two goals in the process.
