West Ham United have been handed a major boost with Andy Carroll and Winston Reid set to return from injury ahead of their weekend clash against Sunderland, according to reports from the Express.
Carroll sustained a groin injury during their 2-2 draw against Norwich City and Reid has been absent ever since their epic 2-1 FA Cup extra-time victory over Liverpool, but Hammers chairman David Gold has revealed that both players should be available when they host the Black Cats on Saturday.
“Andy Carroll and Winston Reid should both be available for the Sunderland game,” he tweeted.
This will be welcoming news for Irons boss Slaven Bilic, with the likes of James Tomkins, Enner Valencia, and Diafra Sakho all still recovering from their respective injuries.
Former Newcastle ace Carroll could feature when he faces his former manager Sam Allardyce, but January signing Emmanuel Emenike is expected to lead the line after scoring a brace in their FA Cup clash against Blackburn this past weekend.
However, if Reid is to take part against Sunderland, either Angello Ogbonna or James Collins will need to make way for the New Zealand international.
