West Ham join Tottenham in the race for Hapoel ace

West Ham has entered the race to sign Hapoel Tel-Aviv young striker, Itay Shechter.

The East London club has joined Tottenham and Liverpool in expressing an interest in the Israeli sensation, who had a plethora of scouts watching him score against Schalke in the Champions League in midweek.

Avram Grant is aware of his fellow countryman’s credentials, but was non committal as to whether West Ham will be looking to make a January bid.

Grant said: “I haven’t seen him many times but he’s a good player.

“For the moment we will wait and see because January is far.” (People)

Shechter has scored 31 goals in 52 games since his move to Hapoel in 2009.
