The Hammers are light on strikers after Andy Carroll’s most recent injury set back and Petric was signed as a last resort for the desperate East Enders.
Boss Sam Allardyce is also keeping an eye on Carlton Cole who is training with the club despite being released in the summer.
Carroll’s injury is worse than feared and the former Liverpool man could be out for the remainder of the season, leaving West Ham with just Petric and Modibo Maiga.
Co-owner David Gold confirmed on Twitter that Petric was in the squad for today’s game against the Toffees who could also give a debut to former Hammers target Romelu Lukaku who turned down a move to Upton Park on transfer deadline day.
“Mladen Petric is in the squad for tomorrows game against Everton. Dg” Gold tweeted.
