West Ham United star Dimitri Payet has won the London Premier League Player of the Year accolade, beating Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil to the prize, Mirror reports.
Payet was signed by the Hammers only last summer for a mere £10.7million from Marseille, and he settled in like a duck to water with seven goals and six assists in the league this season.
And his displays have seen him beat the likes of Ozil, Willian, Harry Kane, and Odion Ighalo to the award, which was his first prize in the English top flight.
The France international was even offered a contract extension despite only joining the club at the start of the campaign, and Payet signed to keep him an Irons star until 2021.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur boss Maurcio Pochettino was given the Manager of the Year accolade, beating Arsene Wenger, Slaven Bilic, and Watford’s Quique Sanchez Flores.
And Chelsea star John Terry was a presented with an honorary award, with the Blues captain expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
