West Ham star set to leave Upton Park

West Ham chairman David Gold has admitted that goalkeeper Robert Green will leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

The England international is out of contract at Upton Park, and is reported to have turned down an extension with the newly-promoted side.

Gold has confirmed that Green will leave the side despite the best efforts of the club.

“Robert Green is a free agent he has chosen to move on,” Gold stated on Twitter.

“Nobody wants Rob to leave but nothing is for ever, he must do what is best for him and we must do what is best for us.”

The outgoing man has been linked with a move to both West Brom and QPR, but at the moment there is no hint of where he will play his football next term.

Sam Allardyce’s men will need a new goalkeeper now also, with the likes of David Stockdale and Jussi Jaaskelainen possible replacements for Green.
