West Ham United completed a shootout victory over Premier League opponents Everton and knocked them out of the FA Cup after a 2-2 extra time scoreline, Skysports reports.
Enner Valencia put his side in the lead, but Kevin Mirallas levelled the scoring with only under 10 minutes of normal playing remaining, forcing the match to go into extra time.
Romelu Lukaku then put the Toffees in the lead, but failure to defend a set piece gave James Tomkins a chance to rise over his marker and knock the ball into the path of Carlton Cole who tapped the ball home, once again equalizing the match.
Sam Allardyce then guiding his team to a penalty shootout win over Roberto Martinez as he reveals that it was one of the most exciting match he’s ever witnessed.
“It was unbelievable,” he said.
“The highs and lows in one particular game. It has been a long time since I experienced such highs and lows in one match. Such excitement. It was end to end from the first whistle – nothing like a Premier League game.
“Both teams went out and played and tried to win it. In the end we got what we deserved, there is no doubt about that.”
The Hammers’ keeper, Adrian, finally made the game winning shot after target Joel Robles struck the ball into the crossbar, leaving him in control of the outcome of the match.
