Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has hinted at summer departures from the DW Stadium.
Whelan is planning to hold talks with manager Roberto Martinez after the Latics secured their Premier League status for another season last weekend.
However, the chairman has admitted that next season will require further prudence from the club with the lowest average gate in the Premier League.
"I will be sitting down with Roberto Martinez very soon to discuss budgets," said Whelan.
"Some players will be staying, some will be going.
"But one thing we won't do is go the way of Portsmouth and Hull and just throw money around. We won't be stupid about it."
Speaking earlier in the month, Whelan admitted that he would not stand in the way of Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia should a bigger club come calling for the star duo this summer.
