Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that the entire dressing room at Anfield are desperate for Philippe Coutinho to remain with the club this summer.

Coutinho, 25, has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona after the Spanish champions sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record deal.

Coutinho has not yet featured for Liverpool this season due to injury, and it is thought that the Brazilian has played his last game for the Reds as he seeks an exit in the latter stages of this summer's transfer window.

Wijnaldum has provided an update on the situation from Liverpool's point of view, but the midfielder has refused to over any guarantees over the playmaker's future.

Wijnaldum told Sky Sports News:

"Everyone wants him to stay. But no one can look in his head or make decisions for him.

"He has to make the decisions for himself. So, it's difficult to speak about it and give an answer. He knows what I want, but it's his decision, we'll see what happens."

Coutinho, who is believed to have handed in a transfer request in a bid to force a move to Barcelona, scored 13 Premier League goals during the 2016-17 campaign.

Liverpool took a big step towards the group stages of the Champions League after recording a 2-1 win over Hoffenheim in the first leg of their playoff on Tuesday night.
