Wolfsburg star Dante has confirmed that the media made a mistake over remarks that he was keen to complete a transfer to Chelsea, Express reports.
The 32-year-old was linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge last week, but has now come out to clarify the situation by revealing that it was a case of mistaken identity.
He went on to reveal that the player who actually dreamed of a switch to join the Blues is Mali Under-17 captain Abdoul Dante and not him.
The Wolfsburg centre-back only joined the club in the summer from champions Bayern Munich, signing a three-year deal as he admitted his shock when people began asking about the news of his exit.
“It’s been difficult and confusing for me. I couldn’t understand why people were calling me and asking about Chelsea,” he said.
“I only left Bayern in the summer, I’ve got a three-year contract with Wolfsburg so I’ve nothing to look for. I don’t know the other Dante but it’s his dream, not mine!”
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is also believed to be keen on signing a new defender after a host of under-par performances from his current group of players, a factor that looks to have fuelled the rumours even more.
His side have so far struggled to pick up all three points as they sit in 16th place despite only being crown champions of England last term.
