Manchester United will be boosted by speculation that Pep Guardiola is ready to snub rivals Manchester City for a move to Old Trafford, Daily Star reports.
The current Bayern Munich manager has already agreed to leave the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season, with former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti already lined up to replace him.
City have been heavily linked with a move for Guardiola ever since his departure from Barcelona back in 2013, but could once again miss out on his signature.
According to a source close to the Spaniard, it is believed that he is favouring a move to United due to his close relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson as well as the football culture at the club.
“Pep always found the club fascinating. He likes clubs with huge tradition and United certainly have this,” he said.
“He won’t be short of options when it comes to deciding his next move and Manchester City are an ambitious club. But United could still prove to be the more attractive proposition.”
Apart from the two Manchester giants, struggling Premier League champions Chelsea are also considering a move for his services following the sacking of former boss Jose Mourinho.
However, the Red Devils will have to wait until the summer if they want to sign Guardiola due to his commitments with Bayern which will finish at the end of the current campaign.
