Watch: Analysing the PFA Young Player of the Year Award nominees

As we approach the end of the season with, fortunately for England fans, no international tournament to get both excited and embarrassed about over the course of a few short weeks, it’s time to recognise the players to have excelled this campaign.

The PFA Young Player of the Year Award is a wonderfully prestigious won, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard having previously won it.

Current incumbent of the award, Dele Alli, has been nominated again after yet another fine season for Tottenham Hotspur, along with teammate Harry Kane. The England international, as well as Romelu Lukaku, have been nominated for the both Young Player and Player of the Year awards this time round.

Elsewhere, Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford may at least find some joy in the season following his nomination, joined by Burnley’s recently-capped England international Michael Keane.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane rounds off the nominees after his excellent adapting to life in England amid Pep Guardiola’s rebuild at the Etihad, so here’s a closer look at exactly why this lot are up for the gong.
