Last summer it was Paul Pogba and Manchester United that dominated the transfer rumour columns across the internet and throughout the newsstands.
This summer it’ll no doubt be Man United at the centre of it all again, but this time chasing yet another world superstar.
The Daily Express believe Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is the main man at the top of Jose Mourinho’s wish list this summer and that the 26-year-old is giving a potential move some serious thought.
Back in January Spanish publication okdiario.com reported that the France international’s release clause stands at £95m, which doesn’t appear to be the kind of fee to put Man United off if you consider how much they paid for Paul Pogba last summer.
Last September, the London Evening Standard were claiming that Chelsea were ready to part with £85m in order to bring Griezmann to London, which would go along way in giving Mourinho the hump, wouldn’t it? That said, any rumours of Chelsea being serious about it have since died down.
But what is it about Griezmann that would lead to Man United or Chelsea to part with such a huge wad of cash this summer?
