A new era… 5 things we learnt from Slovakia 0-1 England

Sam Allardyce’s England reign has started in the best possible fashion. ‘Big Sam’s’ brave Three Lions left it mightily late against Slovakia, but Adam Lallana’s last gasp poked finish secured three points after a performance of questionable quality.

Slovakia played out the bulk of the second half with 10-men after captain Martin Skrtel was dismissed for receiving two yellow cards. Allardyce then opted to go heavily for the jugular and eventually got his reward to get the 2018 World Cup qualification campaign off to the best possible start.
