Spain has El Clasico and Italy has the Derby d’Italia, and the Manchester Derby could well become England’s equivalent over the coming years. The first instalment of Pep Guardiola vs. Jose Mourinho in English soil took place on the weekend, with the boys in blue running out winners.
In a game, as expected, full of intrigue and incident, Claudio Bravo’s ‘tackle’ on Wayne Rooney was one of the big talking points, but ultimately it was the Kevin De Bruyne show, with the Belgian having been the key man at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Chelsea’s 100% record was ended by Swansea, with Diego Costa once again at the centre of just about everything at the Liberty Stadium, while Liverpool battered the reigning champions, Leicester City, 4-1 in their first game at Anfield since their new Main Stand was built.
