Watch: Matchday With Max Meets Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz

A week after becoming the first women’s side from the Caribbean to qualify for a World Cup, Jamaica’s ‘Reggae Girlz’ travelled to Nottingham Forest’s City Ground for their first ever match on European soil.

Their qualification for the 2019 World Cup in France has been described in the Jamaican press as “almost super-human” and was achieved thanks to a penalty shoot-out win over Panama and with a little help from Bob Marley’s daughter!

In 2010, their team ceased to exist before Cadella Marley, along with the Bob Marley Foundation, decided to sponsor the team and helped turn their fortunes around.

The game against Nottingham Forest Ladies, was played as part of a celebration of the Windrush generation and Caribbean culture and Playmaker FC’s Matchday With Max was there to catchup with the history makers.
