Watch: “Wayne Rooney Scored Goals But Never Inspired”

At 33, Wayne Rooney is set to earn his 120th and final cap in a Wembley swansong against the USA where he is currently winding down his career with DC United.

Peter Shilton has questioned the gesture, as has Playmaker FC’s Joe Street who doesn’t believe Rooney ever captured the imagination of England fans as much as his striking predecessors, namely Alan Shearer.

Despite being the Three Lions’ record goalscorer, Street thinks Rooney lacked the likeability of Shearer who also also had the honour of leading the line at Euro 96; one of England’s finest tournament outings in living memory.

His argument is probably best encapsulated in a hilarious analogy about coming home to find both players in bed with your wife that you won’t want to miss in the video above.
