Brendan Rodgers is a curious character, one who even comes with his own typology; Rodgerism – an unusual metaphor, turn of phrase or self declaration that seems to lack basis in reality, often appealing more to emotion than logic and rarely making sense upon closer inspection.
But amid all the cringe-worthy moments and David Brent comparisons, we sometimes forget that he’s actually a very talented manager; one who almost lead Liverpool to their first Premier League title, one who brought Swansea City to the top flight and one who is on the verge of completing a Scottish top flight campaign without losing a single game.
When put into the context of his predecessors’ struggles and his sides’ prior form, all three represent fantastic achievements, especially for a manager with very little experience as a professional footballer. So perhaps it’s time we all started showing the Irishman a little more love.
