Wenger’s five worst defeats as Arsenal manager

The Arsenal good start/bad finish/#WengerOut cycle has become such a reliably annual happening that it’s starting to enter the comforting tradition bracket like, say, Christmas. On this, the Wenger Outmass equivalent of Boxing Day, we bring you five of Arsene’s worst defeats in a digestible countdown format. Luckily for him, some of the matches on our list pre-date Arsenal Fan TV!

It’s worth considering that Wenger was once revered as one of the greatest coaches of one of the greatest sides in the world, but even then, the Gunners weren’t always safe from a hiding – just ask Jason Euell!

It was almost impossible to choose merely five from a tenure spanning as long as the Frenchman’s but we factored in everything from the starting XI on show to the rivalry status of the opposition. We’ve excluded this week’s capitulation at the Allianz Arena due to the fact that everyone is well aware of how bad it was thanks to Sky Sports’ 24 hour-long coverage of it yesterday.
