Once two of the world’s best strikers, Andriy Shevchenko and Teddy Sheringham will turn away from the football pitch and towards the golf course this June to reassert their dominance.
The two strikers scored a combined 605 goals over the course of their illustrious careers. During ICONS of Football 2017 at The Belfry, the two will be on opposing sides.
Sheringham will serve the England Team under captain Lee Westwood and Shevchenko will represent the Rest of the World Team under Darren Clarke’s leadership.
Shevchenko and Sheringham will look to help carry their respective teams, both boasting a more-than-respectable sub-5 handicap. Shevchenko even took up a professional golf career of his own, making him one of the most lethal threats to England’s chances on 23rd-25th June.
Sheringham has likewise developed his golf game since his retirement from football. Although, he has not gone so far as to turn pro, his potential should not be overlooked.
Having won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League over the course of his career, winning is in Teddy’s DNA. The hopes of the England Team will rest largely in his capable hands.
This potential Sheringham/Shevchenko clash is one nobody will want miss.
