With soccer ever improving across the pond in the United States, it's not hard to imagine the English Premier League becoming increasingly dominated by top American talent.

Though USMNT stars already boast a strong history playing at the top level on these shores, FC Dallas starlet Kellyn Acosta could become one of the very best.

As Visit Britain are running an exciting competition to bring the biggest Super Fan in the world over to England, it's time to take a closer look at one man who could make a similar transatlantic trip.

Born in Plano, Texas in 1995, the versatile 21-year-old was eligible to play for Japan through his father, though he opted to represent his mother's country and the one he was born in from a young age. Able to operate at either full-back or in midfield, Acosta's athleticism set him apart during his formative years as a footballer.

A similar type of player to Paris Saint-Germain and France star Blaise Matuidi, Acosta's ability to get all over the park stands him in good stead as football enters a new era. Strong, fast and tall, the 21-year-old is the perfect squad player, though it's not just his physical attributes that make him such an exciting talent.

Having started his career as a full-back, Acosta is well-schooled in the art of defending. While he is able to rely on his pace and power to get him and his side out of trouble, it is his expert reading of the game that sets him apart.

Which is exactly why he's flourishing for FC Dallas in the defensive midfield role. A power player, but with the mind of a man who has operated at a high level for many years, recognition with the United States national team soon followed suit as a result of his meteoric rise at club level in the MLS.

With Premier League sides takeing a keen interest in young American players of late, including the likes of DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Miazga, they should be casting keen eyes over Kellyn Acosta.
