Liverpool were so close to winning their first league title in 24 years last season, but could not make it over the line finishing second to eventual winners Manchester City.
And while fans hoped the club would continue in that upward trajectory into the new season, the Reds suffered at the beginning of the campaign and were unable to put in a string of convincing results.
A big part of that was the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, with the Uruguayan scoring an all-important 31 goals for the club.
However fans then turned to Daniel Sturridge, who banged 21 goals himself, to take over and become the club’s leading attacker.
But the England international injured himself after just three games, which sees the Reds dangling at 8th on the Premier League table.
Now it seems that Sturridge is nearing his long-awaited return, and his first aim is to link up with summer signing Mario Balotelli, who has yet to score in the league, and get him back on the goal-scoring track.
Can’t wait to see this partnership blossom!
