West Ham may have suffered a painful 3-1 defeat at Stoke today, but Andy Carroll still gave England manager Roy Hodgson food for thought over World Cup selection.
So, why should Roy consider taking the Hammers’ forward to Brazil?
His goal today at the Britannia Stadium again showed how his 6’4 stature is a threat to defenders and gives him the capacity for goals like this.
“@OptaJoe: 13 – 13 of Andy Carroll’s 28 Premier League goals (46%) have been scored with a header. Salmon.” @Braddaintith

his presence can raise the spirit of the team when things get tough – which knowing a typical World Cup campaign for England they probably will.
Not taking Andy Carroll to the World Cup would be a crime!

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has made the point that with Carroll having played less matches than other candidates, he could have the advantage of being less fatigued than other players.
Andy Carroll deserves to go to the World Cup, offers something different to England’s other strikers..
