Fulham have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa.

What's the news?

In a recent Twitter post, journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated: "Layvin Kurzawa has just signed the contract as new Fulham player. Done deal, completed with PSG on loan. #DeadlineDay #Fulham"

Romano previously revealed in an earlier tweet that the west London club are set to sign Dan James on loan from fellow Premier League side Leeds United as well.

After making 95 senior appearances for AS Monaco, in which he scored eight goals and delivered nine assists, the defender joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2015. Since then, the 29-year-old has gone on to make 153 appearances for the capital club across all competitions, scoring 14 goals, supplying 23 assists and winning numerous trophies.

Silva should be thrilled

The 2020/21 Ligue 1 season saw the full-back make 19 appearances for PSG, during which he recorded the fifth-highest number of crosses (39) and third-highest percentage for aerial duels won (65.9%) and ultimately ended the campaign with a higher average of interceptions per game (1.5) than any other player at the club.

This shows that not only is he a very capable defender, but he can also offer a big threat going forward with his crosses.

Having described himself in the past as "crazy", Kurzawa would surely be able to offer Marco Silva's side a lot in a defensive and attacking sense.

Taking into account how only seven Premier League teams have delivered fewer crosses that the west Londoners (50) so far this season, the Frenchman's ability to find his teammates with crosses could help the Cottagers in that regard.

With Fulham topping the tree for the number of interceptions (103) made in this top-flight campaign, it's easy to see why they've been keen to add the PSG defender to their squad, especially since that's an area of his defensive game where he has excelled.

Overall, with the experience of playing and winning trophies in France, as well as being a very talented defender who can make an impact further up the pitch as well, it's safe to say that Silva should be over the moon to have Kurzawa in his squad for the season.
