Fulham are reportedly set to land a deadline day deal for Leeds United attacker Dan James.

What's the news?

In a recent Twitter post from Fabrizio Romano, the journalist and transfer expert had this to say on the matter.

"Bamba Dieng to Leeds, Dan James to Fulham: here we go! Both deals are almost done, set to be completed.  #DeadlineDay  Bamba Dieng will join Leeds from OM on €10m package bid; Dan James will join Fulham on loan from Leeds."

After making 74 appearances for Manchester United, during which he found the net nine times and delivered nine assists, the Welshman joined Leeds in the previous summer transfer window.

Since then, the 24-year-old has made 40 appearances for the Yorkshire club across all competitions, scoring four goals and delivering five assists in the process.

An ideal signing

This late move could be an ideal one for the club's manager with James offering plenty of eye-catching attributes in the final third.

The previous Premier League season saw the attacker draw more fouls that led to an attempt at goal (7) and make more pressures (272) in the final third than any other Leeds player.

This shows how tricky the £50k-per-week Wales international is to play against when he has the ball and when he's trying to win it back for his team, relentlessly hounding the opposition.

Taking into account how Fulham currently have the third-highest number of pressures in the defensive (291) and midfield thirds (315) of the pitch in the division but only the eighth-highest for pressures in the attacking third (164), it's safe to say that James would be a massive help for the Craven Cottage outfit in that regard.

Described as an "explosive" player by Andreas Pereira, who has played 30 games with the Leeds attacker during their time at Old Trafford, James would be an ideal signing for the west London club not just because of his skill set, but because they have Harry Wilson and Manor Solomon out injured, while a move for Justin Kluivert has also fallen through.

Given the experience he has of playing in the top flight, even though it's a loan deal, this is still a big coup for Marco Silva and his side.

Moving forward, if the attacking dynamo can hit the ground running at Craven Cottage, he could play a massive part in potentially seeing Fulham have a successful season.
