One upon a time West Ham's youth academy was highly regarded as one of the best and most famous in world football.

To date it has produced some of the country's greatest players, not least World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore. In more recent years the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Glenn Johnson and John Terry all started their footballing careers at West Ham before moving on to win trophies elsewhere.

Since the departure of Tony Carr West Ham have struggled to replicate the kind of talent spotting Carr had made them so famous for, but there are small signs that a new batch of potential wonderkids are beginning to come through the ranks in East London.

If you're thinking of taking charge of the Hammers on Football Managaer 2018 then one of the biggest philosophies you'll be asked to work to is using the club's youth system to develop first team players.

West Ham pride themselves on being called 'The Academy of Football' and it'll be your job to continue that.

So with that in mind, we've identified four young Hammers who all have the potential to become world class stars on FM18, but only with the right training and development.

Make the most of these lads' potential and you'll soon be ranked up there with the great Tony Carr in East London...
