Club History

Hashtag United Football Club was founded (and managed) in 2016 by YouTube creator Spencer Owen.

Initially a group of friends, they started playing friendly and exhibition games, publishing them and building a fanbase on YouTube

The squad was then bolstered via the addition of several YouTube creators and a talent search series, Hashtag Academy, and played in the Next Level 7-a-side YouTube league and the annual Wembley Cup.

After a run of exhibition matches which took the team to 7 different countries, in 2018 the club was granted a place in the Eastern Senior League, and appointed experienced manager Jay Devereux to oversee footballing matters.

Now a lend of original Hashtag players and experienced new faces, the team are excited to be making their non-league debut this season.

In addition to the football team, Hashtag United are also a successful eSports (competitive gaming) club, with professional players competing in the Gfinity Elite Series and 3 players in the final 32 of this year’s FIFA eWorld Cup.
