Hashtag United’s very own Honey Badger represented New Zealand in the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup at the weekend.
In a hotly contested affair, where twenty nations across six confederations entered the tournament, France came out on top, claiming $40,000 and 1500 Fifa Global Series points in the process.
Unfortunately for Honey Badger, New Zealand finished 4th in group B despite a valiant effort, with three wins, three draws and six defeats. Honey Badger, therefore, didn’t make the knockout stages, but he did take home $1,100 and 275 ranking points!
He said: “Although it didn’t go as planned it was still an honour to wear the shirt.
“Congratulations to France, it was one of the best run tournaments I have played in and really showed how good the standard of FIFA is all over the world.”
Commiserations to Honey Badger but he certainly did himself, Hashtag United and New Zealand proud with his efforts.
It may not have gone to plan this time, but there’s plenty more to come from him in the future.
Have a watch of one his wonder goals against Spain, though. Sensational skills…
