We’ve got some exciting transfer news regarding the women’s team to bring you today…and we’ve been waiting weeks to tell you!
We’re delighted to say that forward Evie Clarke has joined The Tags from London City Lionesses, further strengthening what was already one of the strongest forward lines in the league. Evie also counts Arsenal, London Bees and Millwall Lionesses amongst her former clubs, as well as international experience with England at U17, U19 and U21 level. Evie has been training with the women’s team since pre-season started, but delays in processing her transfer meant that we had to hold on announcing her. Unfortunately she isn’t expected to play in today’s friendly against Ashford Town Women, the first public outing for the women this season. Kick-off is at 2pm; details are here:
💥 This weekend we host @hashtagutdwomen in our first pre-season friendly at The RPS! There’s limited attendance so come early to avoid disappointment!

Liam from Hashtag Women’s Football (great blog; make sure you read it!) caught up with Evie for an interview after her signing…
You’ve been training with the club for a few weeks now, how are you settling in with your new teammates?
I’m loving it, the girls are so welcoming and nice, also it’s very competitive which I love. I’m really excited to get started with the girls.
And how are you enjoying working with Jason and the coaching staff?
Jason and the coaching staff are really nice, as soon as I arrived they made me feel really welcome. Their sessions are great as well, competitive and enjoyable!
Now that full contact training has returned and plans are in place for league action to start in September, you must be itching to get the new season underway. How excited are you to wear the Hashtag shirt?
I can’t wait to get started with the girls, really looking forward to showing everyone what we can bring to the table, I think we have a great chance of winning the league so I’m really excited!
What attracted you most to the Hashtag United project?
I think Grace Gillard being at the club originally and Katie Pounder and Ella Hill joining, they are 3 of my best mates! The team has great potential as well which also attracted me.
And what can fans expect to see from you on the pitch?
A lot of attacking, I love going forward with the ball and looking to create as many opportunities on goal as I can!
You bring great experience at both club and youth international level to the team, is that something you think can help the club’s younger players?
Yeah I think having experience is really key within a team, on the pitch and off the pitch. Hashtag have a lot of talented younger players which I hope I can help along the way.
What would you say is your career highlight to date?
Scoring in the European championships against Portugal!
What are your early impressions of the club’s media content and coverage?
The media content and coverage is amazing! It’s a great way of promoting the team and women’s football, whilst hopefully inspiring younger girls looking to get involved in football.
It’s early days, but have you set yourself any personal goals for 2020/21?
I want to get into double digits for my goal tally.
Finally, what are you hoping to see the team achieve this season?
Win the league, I really think we have a great opportunity with the team we have!
With confidence like that, we can’t wait to see Evie in action in a Hashtag shirt. Welcome to the club!
