Hashtag History: Everything you need to know about our first ever FA Vase game!

What’s happening, guys!

This weekend sees Devs and the boys make history as they embark on the club’s first ever game in the FA Vase!

Not sure what the FA Vase is or what it’s about? Let us enlighten you…

Why are we in the FA Vase and not in the FA Cup?

In order to play in the FA Cup, you must have participated in the FA Vase the year before, and to play in the FA Vase, you need to have been a team that has been established for a year.  So it’s our first season in the Vase, and we’re hopeful we’ll be competing in the FA Cup next season.  Step 5 is actually the highest level for teams competing in the FA Vase, and after that, clubs enter the FA Trophy.

What stage is this weekend’s game?

This weekend’s fixture against Leyton Athletic is the 1st qualifying round.

How many games until a trip to Wembley?

In order for us to get to Wembley, we must first progress through two qualifying rounds.

After that, there are then six rounds, a semi-final and then finally the final which would be at Wembley.

How important is the FA Vase?

Realistically, for sides at our level and below, it’s huge as it represents their best chance at a trip to Wembley and decent prize money.  Interestingly, there have been sides in the past who actively stayed at Step 5 just so they could compete in the Vase.

Our opponents this weekend?

Leyton Athletic. They currently play in the league we were in last season, and will be determined to beat us and progress to the second qualifying round!

What are the details?

We have made tickets as cheap as the competition will allow, which will be £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for under-12’s.  Unfortunately, season tickets cannot be accepted for this fixture.

If you’re thinking of coming down to witness our first EVER game in the FA Vase, then head down to Chadfields, Tilbury (RM18 8NL) where kick-off will commence at 3pm!
