Since forming in 2016, Hashtag United have amassed hundreds of millions of views online, built a worldwide fanbase of loyal followers and more recently asserted ourselves as one of the UK’s most exciting non-league football clubs.
Along the way, we’ve produced two Hashtag Academy series where we’ve met and worked with talented young footballers and given them a step up on their own individual journeys. None more so than Scott Pollock who won the first series and has since signed a professional contract with Northampton Town, recently playing against Wayne Rooney’s Derby in the FA Cup. The experience and exposure he gained as part of Hashtag United played a huge role in his development and showing the world his talent.
Series 2 saw Joshua Osude win and gain a paid contract with Hashtag United’s first team, now playing in Step 5 of non-league, England’s 9th tier.
At Hashtag we’ve developed a real passion for advancing young people’s careers, on and off the pitch where we’ve even hired other Academy series applicants who’ve become full-time employees on our media team.
That’s why we are delighted to announce the launch of our very own sports and education programme for 16-19 year olds who want to further their education whilst also pursuing football. Our courses will balance top quality on-pitch coaching and match experience alongside dedicated classroom time, all working towards a qualification equivalent up to 3 A Levels. Training will be delivered by a UEFA B level coach.
INITIAL QUALIFICATIONS OFFERED*:
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science
BTEC Level 2 in Sport
At Hashtag United we believe we are uniquely positioned to offer young players the best chance of pursuing their passions with top level coaching and by establishing a route to the first team and beyond. Students will get the opportunity to represent our Hashtag Academy development side and then have the ability to be fast-tracked into our first team. The level of exposure a Hashtag Academy student can achieve through good performance is unrivalled outside of professional clubs due to our amazing fanbase across social media. Hashtag United are currently the 8th most watched football club in the UK* and have a proven track record of being an amazing platform for young players’ careers.
Additionally, our courses are designed to give our students the opportunity to progress to further education such as university in the UK but also potentially playing and studying abroad through scholarships, or alternatively gaining full-time employment in the sports industry. We can offer unique work experience opportunities within the club itself with roles across our football teams, esports organisation and media department, as well as utilising our industry contacts to help students find work elsewhere too. We back our ability to help produce the next generation of sports talent, on and off the pitch, which is why we are also pledging to offer a paid role at Hashtag United to at least one student who completes our education programme every year.
Our course will be taught at our new home, the state-of-the-art newly developed Bowers & Pitsea facility in Basildon, Essex. With a FIFA approved 4G pitch situated right next to brand new classrooms and changing rooms, we couldn’t be happier to be basing Hashtag United’s football activities out of here moving forwards. Our first-team will be playing home games and training there from the 2020/21 season onwards, meaning that students will be using the exact same pitch as our senior players.
We will be hosting our first trials for our 2020/21 class in the Easter holidays, and are accepting applications from both boys and girls. We will also have a spokesperson present at the trials to answer any questions from parents and to show them around the facilities.
We’ll be in touch with more details soon.
