Welcome back to the site, guys – we’ve got some sad news today.
Ricky Evans has played his last game for the club after sustaining a broken arm in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Redbridge.
In typical Ricky fashion, he tried to play on and even delayed going to the hospital until after the game!
We hadn’t made it common knowledge but we knew that Ricky was due to leave us before the end of the season due to work commitments in Dubai, although his arm injury has obviously now brought that exit forward.
Unfortunately my playing time at @hashtagutd is over. The plan was always for me to leave at the end of feb for work commitments but breaking my arm yesterday cut that short. I’ll still be over as a fan for a few weeks and will say goodbyes then. pic.twitter.com/4O9RecaonN

Since this news was announced by the man himself on his official Twitter account, the reaction and support has been immense; quite rightly, because Ricky has proved himself to be hugely popular inside and outside the club since joining in pre-season 2018.
Let’s take a look at some of the messages on Twitter:
One of my favourite players to wear the shirt & a more than fitting no6 replacement for me!
Big shoes to fill for the next guy.
Scored one of the best @hashtagutd goals ever too.
You’ll be missed. Thanks for everything. Title/promotion winner in only full season #️⃣🙌🏻 https://t.co/lGkkFLtqrL

As well as Spencer’s tribute, some of the Ricky’s teammates also got involved…
One of the good guys in non league, gutted that it’s been a short innings @hashtagutd with you, Looking forward to your highlight reel though.

Aside from the players, Neil , LP and Stampy also had some words for Ricky following his departure from Hashtag United.
Gutted for you pal. Thanks for everything. You’ll be missed 💪

You’re a true Hero Rick. Absolute player and character on and off the pitch! Been a pleasure to work with you. Speedy recovery, going to miss you around!
— LP (@LewisPreston) January 19, 2020
😢 Been an absolute please bro 🥺💙 Wishing you nothing but greatness for your next chapter 🙏🏾

We even had a message from Craig Barnett, a referee who has officiated a few Hashtag United games – amazingly, he says that he doesn’t think he ever had to book Ricky!
I have a feeling there will be some slight relief from referees from around Essex 😂
I’ve enjoyed the few games we’ve had! Don’t think I’ve ever had to caution you! 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/r1ZH1ehBUn

In his last season with the Tags, Ricky made 20 appearances, playing 1698 minutes and winning 17 of those 20 outings.
He also notched one goal and grabbed three assists, while helping contribute to nine clean sheets.
Last season Ricky was a vital member of the title-winning team, and of course none of us will ever forget his goal against Burnham Ramblers.
When Ricky arrived, it was fair to say he wasn’t overly comfortable with the boys pointing a camera at him on a matchday, but he soon relaxed and secretly we know he loves it. What he loves even more is when you lot Photoshop pictures of him…do you remember this from last season? If any of you fancied paying your own tribute to Ricky before he leaves, you know what to do…
Calling everyone on Twitter‼️
We’re wondering if you guys can get creative with this photo of @rickyevans14 😂😂

Ricky will be a huge loss for the club, on and off the pitch, and we wish him well with his move to Dubai. He’s not gone yet though, and he has vowed to be cheering the lads on until he goes, so if you want a selfie with one of the world’s best ginger players, you know where to come, but do it quickly!
As always, don’t forget to Hashtag it!
