Welcome back, guys!
Our eighth game of the season sees us welcome Brentwood Town to our place in our first Essex Thames-Side Trophy action of the campaign.
Devs and the lads performed a minor miracle in our last game against Sawbridgeworth Town, recording a 3-2 win having been 2-0 down with just 15 minutes remaining!
That result means that the boys have now won six games on the bounce, scoring 17 goals and conceding just two.
However, enough of what’s already happened, and onto the next game – we cannot let complacency slip in.
Our opponents this Wednesday evening currently play a level above us, and have already got one over on us having beaten us in a friendly last season.
If this match ends in a draw, it will go straight to penalties – no extra-time in this one!
Under Essex Thames-Side Trophy regulations, each team is allowed five substitutes, and they are also entitled to use two trialists… (watch this space).
Luckily for Devs, no players picked up any knocks in the dramatic win over Sawbridgeworth Town, so we should have a fully-fit squad for this cup tie apart from Jack Harrison and Jamie Hursit, who remain sidelined.
If we manage to beat Brentwood, we will face Tilbury away in the second round.
All proceeds from this match will be going to charity, so it would be amazing if as many of you as possible could come down and cheer on the lads!
