How’s it going guys!
As you’ll probably already know, Devs and the lads have a huge game on the horizon this Wednesday evening.
Hashtag United will be welcoming Essex Senior League leaders Saffron Walden Town to Tilbury, in what should be a thrilling clash between the sides placed third and first respectively.
Saffron Walden Town currently sit top of the pile with 59 points to their name from 25 games.
In our case, Devs has guided the Tags to third with 55 points from 22 games.
If we can grab the three points in this one, we will be just one point behind Wednesday’s opponents with three games in hand on them. What an opportunity for Devs and the boys!
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the heavyweight clash…
While there isn’t much to update you on in this department, we do have a few nuggets of information you may be interested in.
To start with the negatives, Jamie Hursit is unfortunately suspended for this game, so he will miss out.
However Lee Hursit – Jamie’s brother – is likely to be back in the squad having missed a number of games through injury.
Ross Gleed is also set to be back for Devs, so it’s a case of two in, one out for Hashtag United!
Interestingly, Saffron Walden Town are the oldest Essex-based football club still to be in existence!
They were founded in 1872, and are also the 19th oldest football club in the world – amazing stuff. They played their first-ever league game at Halstead in 1899 in the Haverhill & District League, and won that league title for the first time in the 1908-09 season.
In extremely contrasting circumstances, we are one of the youngest football clubs in Essex and perhaps the world, having only embarked on our first campaign in the Football League last year.
Unfortunately, we have nothing to tell you about our last meeting with Saffron Walden Town, as it was postponed!
Hashtag were meant to go head-to-head with Saffron Walden Town on Wednesday 18th September at Tilbury, although the game was called off – Wednesday’s meeting will be the rearranged version of this fixture.
