Hashtag United: creators Charlie Morley and Konrad Borzy join the media team!

How’s it going guys?

Some more transfer news with a difference today…we wouldn’t normally announce this but we’ve strengthened our media team with two faces you may be familiar with so we wanted to introduce you to them officially as they start their new roles here.

Please welcome Charlie Morley and Konrad Borzyskowski to the HQ media team!  Charlie will be helping LP and Stampy with all the video editing across our football and esports channels (and a third channel to come very shortly!), and Konrad comes in as social media producer, filling Yani’s big shoes.

Charlie isn’t a stranger to any of you; not only does he boast over 400k subscribers on YouTube, but he’s also a valuable first team squad member, bagging goal of the season during last season’s campaign.  Opportunities for minutes this season for Charlie have been limited mainly due to injuries and his location, but we’re hoping that working with us will give him a chance to train regularly again.

Konrad may also be known to some of you as a creator on Instagram, but he has also recently joined the Sunday side so you’ll be seeing him pop up in those highlights shortly.  In the past he has worked with adidas as a Glitch ambassador while also being snapped alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Mesut Özil – you can get a taste of the new man’s style and photographic eye by checking out his Instagram at: konradborzy.

Was gonna play it off and act all cool for this one but basically nah, this is the MAN!!! Like this is 10 years of watching this dude kill it as a creative midfielder from that very first goal in the 2010 World Cup vs Ghana it’s been a long stint of watching @m10_official and never thinking he’d actually come to Arsenal. Fast forward like I said 10 years later and I got the opportunity to meet the man just through a great man who was looking out for me and told me to come down to the “event” and the brand @adidaslondon and each individual that has always been lovely, kind, supportive; and always looked out for a kid (who’s 25) who just likes playing ball and creates content. Ty ty ty all so much. Gassed with this moment, hopefully will create many more dope ones for you all to see, and the start of a new chapter tomorrow. Let’s get it. | last shoutout 📸 @benduffyphoto for capturing an iconic moment in time for me. Safe #️⃣

Neil Smythe, who runs the media and operations team here, had this to say about the new boys:

“I’m so pleased we’re able to boost the media team with Charlie and Konrad.  We had so many applications for Yani’s job so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who showed an interest; there are a lot of good people out there!  Konrad is a talented young social producer, and he is out there proving it on his own channels every day.  I can see the passion there for creating quality content, and that’s what Spencer, Hashtag and myself are all about.

I’d say the same about Charlie; I have so much respect for creators who put themselves out there and build their own channels.  Far from us stopping them creating their own content, what we can offer is the flexibility and the support to help them grow as they help us grow.  Both the guys have good contacts within the football creator community and I’m hoping this opens the door to new collaborations.  I’m also pleased that we’ve been able to hire from within our own talent pool, despite me reviewing every application carefully on their own merit.  It shows that the club is able to offer opportunities to keen and talented players, volunteers or fans.

Having two more creators in the team is really exciting for the club; the small team we’ve had here have worked so hard over the past season and a half and we’ve been waiting for the right time to expand.  I’m confident that the expanded team now means that we’ll be able to bring you more of the content you love across football and esports, with some exciting new ideas in the pipeline!”

We managed to grab a quick word with Konrad and Charlie on their first day at the HQ:

“What will the pair of you be bringing to the team?”

Charlie“Enthusiasm, hard work, dedication and a good bit of banter.”

Konrad“Creativity, a lot of content for social media, and actually, funnily enough some decent tekkers on the pitch too.”

“Tell us a bit about your experience and previous work…as if we didn’t already know!”

Charlie“I’ve been in the YouTube industry, ‘the game’ for four years, scored at Wembley, won the Wembley Cup”

Konrad“I’ve been creating content around football on Instagram and social media for the last two years, working with adidas as a Glitch ambassador as well playing step 6 football this season and shooting some legendary ex-pros in the last year including Ronaldinho and Steven Gerrard.”

“Tell us something that most people won’t know about yourself.”

Charlie“I know how to fillet a salmon – I used to work as a fishmonger and butcher in Sainsbury’s.”

Konrad“Five years ago you’d have found me cooking up a half-chicken on the grill at Nando’s. I worked there for three years while I was at university.”
