Happy Friday…long time no speak!

Whilst we’ve been quiet on here, we’ve certainly been busy on other platforms and behind the scenes, and today we wanted to update you on our first new signing of the summer!  Whilst the majority of last season’s squad are likely to feature again this season (bar Louis Hawes and Luke Wilson who said their goodbyes recently), Devs is still looking to strengthen in a few areas and we’re happy to announce the signing of ex-Tilbury, Coalville Town, Witham Town and Loughborough University’s Toby Aromolaran.  Toby has been training with us for a few weeks and now joins in time to make his debut against Frenford tomorrow.  21-year-old Toby is 5’11”, right footed, and plays either on the wing or as a striker.  And as his launch post on Instagram attests, he’s got a rocket of a foot on him!

Toby said of joining The Tags:

I played against Hashtag in previous pre-seasons, and from the outside looking in, it looked like a well-run club; a well-oiled machine!  Everyone seems to have a part to play in making the club unique, especially when you consider the part the fans play at home and at the games.  Even compared to teams much higher up, the club is big, and I’m drawn in as much to what they do off the field as on it.  I’m also a gamer, so I’m intrigued to see how my skills rank alongside teammates at FIFA and COD!  On the whole, joining Hashtag is about more than football; you’re joining something that’s more of a lifestyle than a football club and I’m really happy to be joining.

I know Ross Gleed and Albie from my days at Thurrock Youth where we used to play together at Under 18 and Under 23.  And of course being ex-Tilbury, I know a few of the other players as well.  That’s also where I know Joe Keith from, as he was my gaffer at Tilbury when I had arguably my best season so far.  I’m really excited to see how I can progress as a player under Joe and Devs, and hopefully I can show my best form!

Devs said of Toby:

Toby is someone who we knew of through Joe, and Joe speaks very highly of him.  He’s the kind of player who excites when he is in full flow, and I’ve been really impressed with him.  He’s still really young, so ideal to bring into the squad as we build for the future, and when we learned that he was returning from his studies at Loughborough we made an approach.  I think he’ll be a great addition to our squad!

So whilst a lot of us know him already, we would like to welcome Toby officially to the club (socially distanced, of course!), and we hope you’ll do the same!  Please follow his social accounts and say hello:
