Those of you keeping an eye on our socials will have noticed our two “Deadline Day” signings…we’re delighted to announce the arrival of Jamie Hursit – yes, Lee’s brother – and Luke Wilson!
ANNOUNCEMENT: Two new signings have arrived at the club this #DeadlineDay.

Jamie joins us from Grays Athletic, and has played two divisions above our current league in the past, so his arrival and the experience that he has under his belt should be a huge bonus for us going forward.
Football is a matter of opinions, some positive some negative. Have to learn how to deal with both. Thank you @GraysAthleticFC for my time with you ??

You may have already come across Lee’s older brother though…he played for us against his old team-mates in our friendly against AFC Hornchurch. Jamie is a full back who can also do a pretty decent job further down the pitch, and his versatility may prove to be invaluable to Devs as the season goes on. He came through the youth set-up at Hornchurch, making his first team debut for them in October 2014, was a member of their squad who won the Bostik North Division back in 2017/18, and made a total of 78 appearances for the Urchins across two different spells, 23 of which came during last season.
Speaking about the new signing, Lee said: “Wow, my brother signing for Hashtag. We’ve had the Carmichael-Browns brothers, we’ve had the Adams brothers, now its time for the HURSIT BROTHERS. Hopefully we can win trophies together and serve for a very long time playing for this great club #UpTheTags.”
Jamie added: “I’m very excited to join Hashtag, I know a lot of the boys through Lee and followed Hashtag throughout their success last season. When the opportunity came about and Devs and I had the initial conversation I straight away knew he wanted to take this club places and it was the place for me.
I can already tell it’s more than a football team, everyone has welcomed me like family. I’m hoping with my experience in non-league, I can bring leadership and a winning mentality into the team. Lee and I have played together in the past and I have wanted to play alongside him again! He is a very talented player and hopefully we can bring our chemistry off the pitch, onto the pitch.”
Another new face joining the lads is Luke Wilson, who we have signed from Coggeshall Town.
Luke has played for Bowers & Pitsea, Billericay Town, Grays Athletic and Heybridge Swifts – where he was part of the Bostik North playoff-winning team last season – and he also played against us in a friendly earlier this year. Upon signing for Hashtag, Luke said: “

We are very happy to have another Hursit on board and are equally excited to have a player of Luke’s calibre and quality in the side, and can’t wait for their Hashtag careers to begin. Both players will be eligible to play at home against Tower Hamlets next Wednesday.
And, as always, don’t forget to hashtag it!
