Big announcement for you here guys.
Hashtag United are delighted to welcome Joe Keith to the coaching staff!
Joe worked alongside Devs for a number of years at East Thurrock United, but they stayed in touch with each other even after parting ways in the footballing world.
Joe then went to work at Tilbury (where he was manager for our friendly against them last season) and Aveley, but after leaving them, he has decided to team back up with Devs here at Hashtag United. He joined the team in time for our midweek match against Walthamstow, so be sure to check YouTube on Saturday for his first interview with us.
After his move to the Tags was confirmed, Joe said: “I am (excited). I speak to Devs on a regular basis, I always have done. I worked with him for years at East Thurrock, and since then we’ve stayed in touch regularly.
“It might have felt like it was a matter of time before I came here, as everyone’s always said to me, but that wasn’t the case. After a brief spell at Aveley, I left my role at there as Assistant Manager and that’s when Devs asked me if I’d be interested in coming in, which I was and I’m excited to be here.”
Let’s hear what Devs had to say about being reunited with Joe.
“Joe is someone who I have known for a number of years. We enjoyed a long and successful spell working together at East Thurrock United.
“Although that was almost four years ago now, we have remained in constant contact with each other and I’m delighted that I can, at last, add him to our coaching team. As well as him being someone I have complete trust in, Joe’s quality, experience and knowledge of the local football scene will be a huge asset to us.
“Also, with Richo and Tom still being vital to us as players, I felt it key for me to be able to add a non-playing coach to our team. Joe and I know how each other work and I’m looking forward to him helping us improve as a football club.”
Spencer added: “I’m delighted that Joe has decided to join Devs’s coaching staff. We’ve got a great team off the pitch now as well as on it, and for me it’s especially nice because Joe was also part of the East Thurrock United series I made back in 2012/13, so there’s a nice reunion now with Devs, Joe, Steve and myself all having been part of that setup behind the scenes. It’s great that Devs and Joe have worked together before and I think their styles complement each other well. I think we’re a lot stronger now we have Joe on board, so I’m looking forward to seeing what Devs and his team achieve in the future.”
Before coaching, Joe enjoyed a professional playing career, starting as a youth at West Ham before playing for the likes of Colchester United, Leyton Orient and Brentford.
Welcome Joe; we’re all very happy you’ve joined The Tags!
